I'm still around. More or less.
My name is Jason, and I've been here since... 2003, I think?

Dear person right above me,
I also have an unconventional pencil grip, and even now, as a grown-ass adult and a teacher myself I continue to be self conscious about it. Thanks for reminding me that it really isn't a big deal. I need that from time to time.

We already have one confirmed Skywalker for this generation, I'm not sure we need a second. Speaking of which, I'm annoyed they revealed his identity (and his face!) as early as they did. It's obvious he was one of them, but I would have preferred if they left his exact parentage unknown until that...

A popular theory is that she is Obi-wan's granddaughter. That still doesn't explain how she picked up all those jedi skills with no training though. I'd be fine with her being Luke's daughter, so long as they explain it in a way that makes sense. Each trilogy in the Star Wars saga is meant to be ab...

Re: Periodic Movie Review
I won't spoil anything, but I was general quite pleased with The Force Awakens. Its biggest flaw in my opinion is that they played it a bit too safe. In a lot of ways it's almost a remake of A New Hope. Even the big surprises felt a bit predictable to anyone who knows the series well. Say what you w...

It's just hardcover vs paperback, as far as I can tell. Mass market paperback editions always have more more pages because the pages are smaller.

Late reply, I know, but I think you misread something. SotG says that Petra read the Hegemon at Peter's grave, if I'm not mistaken, but it is definitely never said that she wrote it.

So two days ago I was offered, and have accepted, a permanent teaching position at one of the most highly regarded secondary schools in my board. Re: Earth Awakens - Lem [Spoilers]
Well yes, there is the Second Invasion. That's the one that Mazer is famous for winning by killing the queen. But if I recall correctly there's supposed to be a couple of decades between the wars. I was surprised when the end of Earth Awakens revealed that a Formic fleet is five years away. It may b...

It was 20C (68F) here today, which is pretty much my threshold for shorts and t-shirts, and the forecast for tomorrow involves snow and icy conditions with a high of -1C (30F). A 20 degree celsius drop in less than 24 hours?! This winter/spring season has brought some of the most bizarre weather I'v...

I don't know if it was really anticipation of the the movie that brought people here. For the longest time there was little reason to even think that it was going to happen! In any case, there are still Enderverse books to look forward to. I've been looking forward to the post-CotM book, Shadows Ali...

Re: Requesting Advice
In terms of the story, it doesn't make a difference as far as I recall. Both address unresolved plot points from Shadow of the Giant, so since you've read that you're fine. It's just a matter of if you feel like reading a story about Ender or Bean and his children.

Re: ENDER'S GAME Blu Ray/DVD coming Feb. 11th!
Watched the Blu Ray this past weekend. I still think the movie was great, but I wasn't overly impressed by the deleted/extended scenes. The other special featurettes weren't anything to write home about either, but I never really care that much about special features anyway. The most interesting pa...
