Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
I was weeping like a baby for the whole coda sequence of the End of Time. Seriously. Well, I was inwardly bubbling until Rose. Then I lost it. Water everywhere. My wife made me turn in my Man Card. My only consolation was that she was weepy, too. The Doctor's "I don't want to go," broke my...

Also: One thing that we could do with our own wordpress is keep generally updated on other OSC-related news. While many have grown jaded to OSC, still many are still interested in at least being kept aware of release information. I think keeping Ender's Ansible as solely an Ender-themed (movie and b...

Re: Doctor Who (yarr, there be spoilers here!)
Watched Planet of the Dead, and Waters of Mars. Woah. The Doctor just had a total breakdown. It seemed almost like a crisis of faith, so to say. Rebelling against his long-held principles, and questioning the validity and authority behind them. And I totally understand his logical progression: Why d...

also, it's been said before that a key desire is to make the Timelines (as noted in Shadow Puppets, Ender Companion, etc) prominent and available. Until there's a better medium, can we make the Timeline thread over in Enderverse Novels stickied? Apart from the original timeline, it's got some links ...

Thought I'd add this, as it helps show the flow and relationship between Ender's Game, the Shadow Series, and Ender in Exile: http://www.thephiloticweb.net/pweb/EG_TIMELINE.jpg As much as Ender in Exile it's an expansion/direct sequel of/to Ender's Game, it is also very much a direct sequel and foll...

50% of the way through. I can't recommend anybody reading this who hasn't yet read the Shadow Series, or at least plans to. As much as it's a direct sequel to Ender's Game, it is a direct sequel to Shadow of the Giant. SotG, like EG, ends the 'present day' storyline, then jumps ahead to the future, ...

Sure you can turn it off. From the home screen, go to Menu -> Settings -> Reading Options and then turn the Public Notes slider to 'Off'.

Umm, I think we (or some of us) started that back in the day. I think I remember making that logo. Oh, it was us. Heh.
Anyone know anyone who's maintaining it now a days?

Re: Apocalyptic Film Festival!
Love the original Planet of the Apes. Read the original novel by Pierre Boulle in, like, 12th grade or something. Quite enjoyed it, too. The second, Beneath the Planet of the Apes, is even more Apocylyptic than the first one. Seriously. Just when you thought Man screwed the earth up enough one time,...

Re: Reading and Re-reading: Impressions along the way
I'm fine with the RetCon. I'm with OSC, in that he shouldn't feel the need to be holden to off the cuff details he wrote in 1985 that didn't effect the core of the original story. I think things like Stephen King did with issuing a revised and updated edition of his first Dark Tower novel are a perf...

Re: Reading and Re-reading: Impressions along the way
Like 30% into Ender in Exile. Enjoying the fleshing out of this part of the story. Definitely understand why OSC wanted to expand and explore this time period. It's the very definition of RetCon, but I'm definitely glad I not only read the full Shadow Series (through Giant) , but also War of Gifts, ...

Just finished Turn Left, going into the multi-part finale of Season 4. Just have to say, the BAD WOLF finale of that episode was EPIC. I absolutely love the 'Action theme' (or, "All The Strange Strange Creatures" as it's called on the album). I've gone from not being able to stand Donna in...

From OSC's wife Kristine, over at Hatrack forum ( link ) To those confused about the Shadows in Flight ebook publication: The relationship between hardback publication and ebook publication is still in flux. Could there be a way to add an RSS feed to the top of the page, underneath the menu, with a title link to the latest News Story from Ender's Ansible? I kind of hope for a series of Shadow-based movies, just so we can see the unbridled snarkiness of Theresa Wiggin in action. Are you actually going, Cassandra? I don't know where you live but awesome if you are.
Sad that the best role I could fit is Theresa Wiggin.

Re: Reading and Re-reading: Impressions along the way
I think the difference is that the reason has nothing to do with his survival - he turns the keys over to Petra, because the result is giving her what she wants, rather than his own survival. As of this point, Bean has no ambitions for his own survival. He has no hope for himself. He sees the end of...

Re: Reading and Re-reading: Impressions along the way
Shadow Puppets This was, in my opinion, the weakest of the books so far. While I enjoyed the Virlomi and Peter/Wiggin Family story threads, I was put off by much of the pontificating over war strategy, and found myself skimming through the majority of it, especially when it went on for pages. Initi...
