Flood Blocker

Postby AnthonyByakko » Wed Nov 22, 2006 3:30 am

I already know I'm not the only one who curses the flood prevention thing on this board, so sound off. At the very least, it shouldn't prevent you from editing a post. I mean, you make a post, you look at it and see a typo or error somewhere, and you want to fix it, right? But wait (for an unknown integer of time)! So can we at least get the old one where it told you how long you had to wait? I mean, sitting here refreshing a page 20 times just to get a single letter fixed in a post is que ridiculoso.

Aparrently there's no way to make the flood limit only apply to new posts. It either affects posts and edits or they get rid of it. Due to that I'm in favour of getting rid of it, or at least making it very short.

i think it's something we just have to deal with. mind you, i hate it too.

right now it's not that important cuz the only people here are people that are fairly mature, and honest.

however, sometime soon we'll get more newbie traffic. no guarantee that they will be mature or honest. also, now that we have a member ranking system, there is morei ncentive for people to flood posts to get a higher post count. then it will make a whole lot more sense to have the timer.

Jeebs is right about not being able to change the flood limit to not apply to edits.

Problem with making it really short, is that the timelength needed to make it not be a problem for edits would be extremely short, which would then make it completely useless for the purposes of avoiding spam.

As for what Brain said, that is pretty much my view on the matter as well.

I don't recall that either, but I don't really mind the system as it is now. If I get that message, I just go read the rest of the posts (or just go do something else) for a while, then try hitting Submit when I notice that that tab is still open.
