I actually feel kind of bad for Bush

Despite everything he's done that I disagree with, all the mistakes I think he's made, and the stupid policies...

I did feel kind of bad for him when I watched the White House Corespondents' Association Dinner, and Stephen Colbert's speech. It's hard to be mocked outright to your face and have to keep a smile on your face.

He sure didnt do that good of a job. He looks so pissed!

I can't say i felt to sorry for him, the guy dug his own grave. All i could think of during this was MAN colbert sure has some balls. I know i never could have said many of those things to the man. Well, some of them i would, but not in such a mocking way.

I first saw this clip back on youtube when it was causing such a stir on the blogasphere a while back. I really didnt like colbert until i watched this clip, i guess i didnt get his humor.

anyway, now i love the colbert report.

Of course, Bush didn't have to show up to that thing, it's entirely optional for the President to attend.

It's nice not to mock your guests. No matter how valid it is.

So do I, Ali. I think that's pretty low, to insult someone in a place where they really can't stick up for themselves. It's backhanded and dishonorable.

It's one thing to disagree with someone. It's another thing to disagree with someone and humiliate them in a place where they can't even avoid what you're saying.

I have to say, I admire Bush's self-restraint. I would have started sobbing, or gotten up and started arguing.

Um, guys, the point of this whole thing was to "roast" the big shots in washington. I think he took a little further than was expected but they knew what he was going to do because roasting always means that.

Luet's right. The purpose of the event was to be a roast. If anything, I felt more bad for Colbert -- the whole event made him seem to reek of desperation: "Please! Think I'm funny! I'm someone, someone I tell you!" Please.

Compared to American humour in general he didn't seem to be particularly overdoing it. Except for the mock press conference bit.

You have to forgive Ollie. Republicans don't find Colbert nearly as funny as those silly liberals do.

I have no political affilation and find Colbert amusing at times.

I'm not a fan of Colbert, myself.

I am NOT a Republican! And the implication that the opposite of "republican" is "liberal" is a faulty one.

That being said, you're basically right :)

And Jebus, I have to agree with you. But I don't find typical Will Ferrel to be funny, either. He also has that desperate odor.

THANK you! Someone else who agrees with me. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when everyone talks about how funny he is.

I think you have to be in a certain frame of mind to enjoy Ferrel's humour.

For me, it helps if I've had a few drinks.

George Bush and Will Ferrell are Pamela Martha Fockers.
